Work. > The Huntview Sculpture Garden

The Huntview Sculpture Garden combines personal memories with an interest in art history and African American culture, creating artificial artifacts that document a version of the past for the future. The works reflect the fragility of time and seek to establish a temporary permanence through memories left behind. Working in a mix of figuration and abstraction, canvases are woven and reconstructed to reveal new narratives of half-truths and familiar unknowns. Busts of a man are hidden behind layers and barriers that prevent access to a total understanding. Tablets and lukasas are embedded with a collection of symbols with meanings that are no longer known.
